Books for International Goodwill (BIG)

B.I.G.'s Purpose

Books for International Goodwill (B.I.G.) is the largest all-volunteer book distribution project in the world having distributed over 9 million books to underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad. To get an idea of what 9 million books looks like, think about laying them end to end. Nine million books would stretch from Annapolis to Chicago and most of the way back. B.I.G. is the signature project of the Parole (Annapolis) Rotary Club. Our goal is to “keep books alive,” rather than seeing them discarded and ending up in landfills.

B.I.G. accepts books 24/7 at our warehouse (located at 451 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401—1.7 miles west of the Annapolis Mall on the south side). We especially need non-fiction, texts and children’s books. Volunteers sort and pack books into categories and we attempt to match books to the categories requested by recipients.  B.I.G. ships to schools, libraries, literacy programs and prisons.  

Donations can be tax deductible.

NOTE: All books must be dropped off directly to B.I.G. We will NOT be collecting books at any of the Chick-fil-A locations during the course of the month.

Due to space limitations, B.I.G. can only accommodate 8 volunteers at a time. 

Please know B.I.G. will NOT have a stamp on hand if you drop off books. Simply make a note in your passport or take a selfie and we will stamp your passport at the culmination of the project.
