Mission:
Asbury Church Assistance Network (ACAN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that encourages wellness by making healthy food choices and essential items available to households experiencing food insecurity in Anne Arundel County. ACAN began in 2004 as an outreach ministry to provide emergency assistance. Since then we have grown from serving approximately 1500 clients a year to serving more than 20,000 clients in 2020. The number of clients we serve continues to grow.

Prep & Prime Day:
Day 1: Wednesday, November 2
Time: 2:30 pm start time, 4:00 pm start time, 6:00 pm start time
Mission: This first day will be busy! There are 3 start times for Wednesday afternoon broken down by the tasks we hope to accomplish. Please sign up for one or multiple tasks for Wednesday evening.
Task 1: Clear out the ACAN space
Task 2: Clean walls and floors to prep for painting
Task 3: Prime the walls

Paint the Walls:
Day 2: Thursday, November 3
Time: 9:00 am start time & 5:00 pm start time.
Mission: Day 2 and we are rolling (literally rolling paint!)! There are 2 start times for Thursday to allow for the morning team to complete the first coat of paint (allow time for it to dry) and a second evening team to do a second coat.

Passport Stamp Notes: A Chick-fil-A Leader will be onsite at all ACAN in-person volunteer opportunities and available to stamp your Passport.
Drop-off Opportunity #1:
Bagged Lunches:
Mission: Provide bagged lunches for the homeless to be distributed by ACAN volunteers.
ACAN will be accepting BAGGED LUNCHES every Wednesday in November. All lunches should be dropped off at ACAN directly between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on the Wednesday you sign up for.
Dates: 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30
Each Volunteer Slot = 5 bagged lunches
- Lunches may include:
- Sandwich
- Fruit (other apple sauce, fruit cup)
- Chips
- Granola Bar/Other Snack
- Mini-bottle of water
- Note (Drop a note in the bagged lunch with an inspirational quote, bible verse or a simple message to bring cheer to someone's day.)
- Please do not include lettuce, tomatoes, condiments, etc. in sandwiches. You may include a mayo or mustard pack.
Get the kids involved! This is the PERFECT project to get children involved. Grab the crayons and markers and have the kiddos decorate the brown bags! Whether it be your children, grandchildren, neighbors or kids in your classroom - get them involved!

Thanksgiving Day Sides:
Mission: Provide Thanksgiving Day sides for ACAN to distribute to families in need.
Date: Friday, November 11 (ACAN will be onsite at the one-day service event to accepts Thanksgiving Day sides.)
